Holli & David: The Shindig

As promised, here are a few faves from the rest of Holli and David's wedding reception in Draper.

The photo below pretty much illustrates the essence of Holli to anyone who doesn't already know her.  In short, she always makes you feel like she's excited to see you, and it is always genuine.  Such a fun person to be around!

The food was delicious- Holli and David take their barbeque seriously... mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I love this next sequence.

Hooray for live music!

Holli sang a love song for David right before they left for their honeymoon- it was lovely.

Huge grins?  Check.  Sweeeeeeet ride?  Check check.  Big 'ol fireworks display to send you on your way?  Check check check.  We're ready to rock.

That's all she wrote, folks.  Have a great night!

Holli & David: Vintage and Retro Reception Details

Just to continue gushing from last night, the details for Holli and David's reception were just so fun and so well done.  It didn't just have a lot of "cutesy vintage touches", but had lots of genuine and beautiful Americana elements.  It was around the 4th of July, after all!  And what could be more perfect to ride away in than a pristine red vintage Cadillac?

The food was absolutely amazing, but the best part?  This locomotive barbeque!

As you can see, the whole layout was very open, and just reminded me of what I picture when I think of an old-time southern barbeque or big extended family party.  I loved the setting they created for the receiving line here below.  Very artistic and full of color!!! I'm told that David himself actually painted most of these.... I wonder if he knew what he was getting into when he proposed?  Apparently he was awake at 7 am ON HIS WEDDING DAY to help set up this amazing reception.  Along with many other people, of course.  SO much work went into it, and I thought it went off perfectly.

You can get a little preview of David's reception suit here on the right...  Thomas thought it was perfect.  He is a huge fan of the "trad" or classic "prep" look (or so he tells me).  All I can say is that David looked fantastic, and I loved the lighter suit.

Despite how much I loved the vibrant colors everywhere, I really really liked Holli's bouquet (which didn't have ANY strong colors, just mostly shades of white).  It was so elegant, and I felt was a great counterpoint to everything else.

Ok, stay tuned tomorrow for some favorite photos from the rest of the reception!

Holli & David: LDS Draper Temple Wedding

The more I get to know Holli and David, the more impressed with them I get.  They are some of the nicest, genuine, and giving people I have met.  When I posted an S.O.S. on Facebook a couple of months ago looking for a few extra hands in loading up our moving truck, they immediately responded and said they would be there.  They showed up, and not only helped us load in Lehi, but drove up to West Jordan to help us unload... and they did it happily and with a smile on their faces. PLUS, they love metal prints almost as much as I do.  That in itself puts them pretty high in my book. :)

Their wedding was fantastic.  They knew exactly what they wanted, and had some amazing details.  The whole reception was like a big old-timey fair or carnival, where families would go and eat, relax, and just enjoy each other's company.  They had some great live music and a FANTASTIC get-away car.

I love happy people. I love to shoot them, I love to talk to them, and I love to be around them.  Just a few reasons why I like to hang around these two.

Don't these guys look amazing?  Holli looks absolutely fantastic, and David actually had TWO suits for the day... this awesome pinstripe, and then another summer suit for the reception.  Y'all will be able to check it out with the reception post... we'll do a details post tomorrow, and then the overall reception post on Wednesday.

Vintage Formals: Highlights with a Classic Car

Wanted to share a few favorites from Andrea and Steven's formals shoot in Daybreak.  We did their session in two parts- part one was with a vintage 1937 Buick Special from SomethingVintageSomethingBlue.com.  Part 2 will be a change a scenery for an urban look in downtown SLC.

I loved being able to work with Daisy (the car) and Sam (the driver)!  It just added an element of class that matched Andrea and Steven so well.  It also happened to match their wedding colors!

Andrea and Steven are swing dancers, so they've got this dip down.  Amazing!

I highly recommend Something Vintage Something Blue if you're looking for unique transportation for your wedding, or something extra for an engagement or bridal session.  They are absolutely wonderful.

Nicole and Taylor: A splash of nature with a twist of vintage

What a fun sense of style!  Nicole and Taylor loved the outdoor vintage look, so we headed on out to Saratoga Springs and got some beautiful shots.

Both Nicole and Taylor have some incredible eyes.  I like how Nicole's have a little extra twinkle in them- she doesn't have to be grinning at the camera, you can still see she's over the moon about this guy.

They had this wonderful ornate mirror frame- I thought it was perfect for the feel they were going for.

I loved her bouquet of wildflowers!  Makes for a nice mix of color with a really relaxed, casual feeling to it.

Something Vintage, Something Blue...

I got an urgent call last week from Jodi at Utah Linens: "I just set up for this wedding, and it is gorgeous!!!  I need photos of it, because I've never seen something so well put together."  The wedding was at Le Chateau in Provo, and the details were put together beautifully.  Here are a few of my favorites.
