I've known the Scadden family for years; they used to live in Austin (my hometown) and they recently relocated up here to Utah. We met up at Wheeler Farm for the shoot; It was GORGEOUS, despite the late season (cursed short Utah fall colors time frame). It had been raining that day, so we were worried we might have to postpone- fortunately it cleared up soon after we started, and with the small exception of a short strong shower near the end we had pretty good weather.
I was amazed that a family shoot with SIX kids could go so smoothly. I was especially impressed with the youngest two! Chandler, known as "Chanman" to his family and friends, is only four years old but he had a ton of personality and could win any girls heart. Makenna, the next youngest, is seven going on seventeen, and is almost ready to go on the runway. Such a fun family!!

BreAnn and Jon
After seeing the photos I took for Shannon and Chris, BreAnn contacted me about doing an "engagement"/family session. BreAnn and Jon have their own boxer, a very energetic male named "Milo", and we managed to get a few shots of them as a family before banishing him to the car to wait out the rest of the session. Poor Milo was having a bit of trouble focusing on the camera, as there were about 5 times as many dogs at the park that day as I have seen at other times. With so many interesting distractions it was a fun challenge to make sure everyone was looking at the same time. :)
Recently it seems like I have had a lot of families request a photoshoot with their dogs. It has been a lot of fun to see the dynamic between the clients and their pets as we work together- they really do become a part of the family, and I have loved the variety it can provide to the pictures.

Parry Luncheon
Right after the wedding Laura and Jacob had a lovely luncheon at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building at Temple Square. The cake was beautiful, Jacob sang Laura a song (in front of everyone no less!), and a good time was had by all. I loved the big windows letting in lots of natural light, and the entire event had a very relaxed atmosphere. The setting in the memorial building was wonderful; I had done bridal sessions there before (it's one of the best "indoor" photography locations in Salt Lake City), but this was my first wedding reception that had been held there. I look forward to shooting there again in the future!

Chris and Shannon's "Engagements"
When Shannon saw her friend Carolyn's bridals, she contacted me and asked to schedule a shoot for her own bridals. However, due to some issues with the wedding dress they decided to do this "engagement" shoot. They've been married for over a year now, but didn't have professional photos done at the time; this is a fairly common situation, and I am always delighted to help recreate some of the feelings and looks so that my clients can have photos that represent what they would have wanted at the time.
Chris and Shannon were loads of fun to work with, and we had a wonderful time as we went around the Salt Lake County building and the SLC Library. I love it when it feels like instead of just meeting new clients, I get to make some new friends as well.
We focused primarily on just couple shots, but they did bring their beautiful boxer Roxy along to be able to get a couple "family poses" as well.. :)

Parry Wedding
I loved the sense of style present in this wedding! I especially liked that Laura, Jacob, and the entire male half of the wedding party were all wearing converse shoes, and Jacob's chocolate brown pinstripe tux got Thomas' nod of approval. I also had a lot of fun aside from my normal role as the photographer as I partly felt I was there in place of my sister Chelsea. Laura and Chelsea served together in the mission field in Bolivia along with Ashley (one of the bridesmaids). As my sister and her family are currently living in South Carolina she was unable to attend; thus my "honorary-Chelsea status" was a fun addition to the wedding day.
I guess I can look forward to a repeat of the feeling, as I will be shooting Ashley's wedding in the Logan Temple on December 11th! :)
Laura was such a trooper as it was absolutely FREEZING that day (somewhat unusual for the beginning of October), but she toughed it out and we got some wonderful wedding shots.

Slevin's Baby Photos
We had planned to take these baby pictures outside, however due to Utah's crazy Fall weather (warm one day, freezing rain the next) we ended up doing the photoshoot inside at my studio. Slevin was a wonderfully cute subject, and had some really great smiles. It's interesting doing infant photography, however, in that you don't just let them play and document their natural poses and actions (my preferred method with small kids). As they aren't fully capable of moving themselves around, it is an exercise in creativity and flexibility in coming up with new ideas and poses that work for each baby. I love searching out new concepts with this area of photography though! It makes me excited to take pictures of my own kids someday.

Jeanine and Justin's Engagements
For this engagement shoot we met up in Salt Lake City at Liberty Park. Though it was fairly late in the year, there were fortunately still plenty of Fall colors down there. Justin and Jeanine are due to be getting married on Jan 2nd in the Bountiful Temple, and we were happy to be able to get a session in with the trees still bearing their leaves. Jeanine and Justin were great to work with, especially given that they don't have a ton of time together in their schedule, and so a two-hour photoshoot might not seem like the most fun. You know it's love when they make a regular 4 hour trip to be able to see each other every weekend.

Baby Zoey and Family
This baby is one of the most adorable infants I have ever come across. She is incredibly expressive, and was tons of fun to shoot. I first saw Zoey in Five Guys in Orem (love their burgers) while waiting for our order, and got to talking with her dad when I told him how cute she was. I mentioned I was a photographer, and I love taking pictures of kids, and he took my card. I was thrilled when I received an email several weeks later requesting a shoot. Zoey was just as cute as I remembered from the restaurant, and we got some wonderful photos of her and her family. Unfortunately, it was a colder day than we anticipated, and so Zoey kept sticking her hands in her mouth to warm them up. :)
I was especially pleased with this shoot, as I was able to use my latest find in the search for props- a tea cup from the lawn and garden section of Walmart.

Christie and Norman- Bride and Groom Shoot
Here's a few shots from Christie and Norman's Bride and Groom shoot. They'll be getting married soon at the Mount Timpanogos temple in American Fork, and they wanted some bride and groom shots for their reception. I met them randomly at the Timp temple one evening when I was doing some night temple shots with Thomas; they had just gotten engaged and asked Thomas to take a couple of pictures of them with their cell phone. Thomas called me over and I took a couple quick shots of them with my camera and emailed them them to Christie. Later on Christie contacted me about doing some more shots of them; they didn't need the full wedding package, but I was happy to schedule a couple of hours and do an enhanced bridal session.
