After some great engagements, bridals, and a really fun bride and groom shoot on the beach, I was definitely looking forward to shooting Kelsey and Alec's wedding day. They got married in the Redlands Temple in Orange County, California, and it was a beautiful afternoon. I love to travel, love photography, and when I get to combine the two it makes for a very happy time. It was fabulously warm (especially compared to the weather we left back in Utah), the flowers and the colors the wedding couple chose were gorgeous, and the photo session went off without a hitch.

Kelsey and Alec's Beach Bride and Groom shoot
The day before Kelsey and Alec's wedding in the Redlands California temple, we met up at Dana Point in Orange County for a bride and groom shoot and some more bridals. It's a beautiful beach, and it was a gorgeous day with lots of huge clouds and some great color in the sunset. It was such a welcome change from the cold weather we had been having up here in Utah, and Thomas and I loved spending Thanksgiving in a location where you could walk around barefoot outside in shorts and a t-shirt. The only chilly point was when we got wet in the ocean while taking some of the shots; it was worth the sacrifice, but MAN that water that cold! :)

Alexis and Alan's Newlyweds
Alexis and Alan's wedding was on a blustery day at the Bountiful Temple; it was beautiful, and bitterly cold! The site is gorgeous, and located way up on the top of a hill- we had some serious winds, and I felt so sorry for the bridal couple. Even Alan in his tux (which Thomas still approved of- chocolate brown and quite stylish) wasn't doing much better with the breeze than his beautiful bride.

Kelsey's Bridals
Well, Kelsey and Alec got married this last weekend and everyone was able to see how beautiful she looked in her dress. Thus, I am now able to put up the post showing her bridal shoot. It was a lot of fun, one of the sessions up above Sundance while the Fall colors were still in abundance, and we were joined by Kelsey's entourage- all 4 of her roommates. :)
Kelsey is an amazing singer, and is a member of an all-girl musical group at BYU, so we managed to get a couple of pictures of her singing in her dress. She and her group ended up performing at the reception out in California. I'll definitely be adding a post after I get the photos from the wedding day processed.

Allie and Jon
'Tis the season for Christmas Card photos! Allie and Jon were definitely one of the most stylish "families" I have done photos for, and their two dogs were adorable in their little Christmas sweaters. We headed on up to Wheeler Farm, where there were still a bit of Fall colors to be found, and managed to leave with some photos I was particularly happy with. By now I was quite familiar with taking photos of dogs, and their two were wonderful to work with. (It helps when you can just physically tote them around though! Not so feasible with a boxer... :D )

Kaylee's Bridals
I love shooting happy people. Kaylee is one of the happiest and most cheerful people I have met while doing photography. When I did Kaylee and LJ's engagements we laughed the entire session. It was easily one of my favorite shoots to photograph from the last six months. Kaylee and I met in downtown Provo for the session, and got some nice colorful backgrounds (this is another of the last couple fall color shoots). Kaylee's dress was gorgeous, I had never seen a dress quite like it before. Doing so many weddings as a photographer it is interesting that I have many more opinions and viewpoints on things like dresses, cakes, tuxedos, decorations and the like than when Thomas and I got married. I think looking back I wish I had gone with a more unique dress (I went pretty traditional with mine). I do love seeing all the different dresses with the brides that I shoot however! It's the huge variation that make it so interesting.
I am looking forward to photographing Kaylee and Lj's wedding this Saturday at the Draper Temple. It's almost a shame that neither Thomas or I really follow professional sports- Lj's father evidently played football in the NFL and I think it might be possible some other professional football players will be attending. Maybe I'll just casually talk to the biggest guys in the room and enthusiastically say "You know, you're big enough that you could probably play football! Ever think about it?" :D

Janine's Bridals
For this bridal shoot we trekked on out to a private lake in West Jordan that I had shot before and Janine liked. Unfortunately, on the way up there the clutch went out on our car! We managed to make it to the location without too many difficulties, but it did start the session out on a bit of a harried tone as we were rushing to begin before we lost too much light. Fortunately, Janine was up for the challenge and was such a trooper as it turned out to be a VERY windy and VERY chilly day. Janine's future-sister-in-law was along to help as an assistant, and she said later she thought it was strange at the beginning of the shoot that Thomas and I had brought along our pea coats; by sunset the wind had picked up across the water and even with our coats we were shivering!
I had seen helium balloons used in other bridal sessions, so I was interested to see how they turned out as a prop. They added an interesting element to the photos, though they were a little difficult to work with in the wind... :D

Lamoreaux Family
This was one of the most fun family shoots I have ever done. Trisha and her kids were a delight to photograph, and we just joked around the entire time. It was so great to see a family so happy to be together. Family photos can sometimes be a little stressful between different family member schedules, wardrobe malfunctions, and kids just wanting to be kids and not pose for the camera. This time everyone was great! Trisha was pretty much just one of the kids, and they had fun teasing each other and trying to make each other laugh as they took their turn in front of the camera.
We did this shoot around Da Vinci doors in Lehi, and it was amazing that there were so many other photographers out that day. The secret must be out by now, as there were at least 6 or 7 other groups taking photos (on a weekday afternoon no less). I guess the holidays are coming, and 'tis the season for family portraits for Christmas cards.

Pearson Family
I've done several shoots now for the Pearson family, and Teagan is certainly getting bigger each time I see him. We got these pictures done in Provo by the river while there was still a lot of great fall colors, and I am so glad we did. Fall here in Utah is pretty much over, so now the only way I can get my fix of beautiful foliage is as I edit these past shoots. It was especially cool in this location as I saw that the ivy crawling up and over a building had changed colors- I had never seen ivy to do that.
