Fancy Fabric Flowers

A couple months ago I did a product shoot for a little company called Fancy Fabric Flowers.  Melina does all the work and hand-makes these beautiful fabric flowers that are super unique and (best of all) that don't make you worry whether they will last the whole day or not.

I thought the gold bouquet was definitely the most elegant of the day, but this one below with the button flowers was adorable.

They also do corsages (that can double as hair pieces) and boutonnieres for prom...

BreAnn & Joseph- Engagements in Utah County

BreAnn and Joseph are getting married in Washington DC, but they are both out here in Utah going to school.  We shot their engagement photos around in and around American Fork, and had a great time.

I was really excited with some of the results that we got using some variations on the lighting setup we do.  Lighting can make for such an awesome, dynamic element in the photo, and can really help create that super romantic mood.

I loved the interaction between these two.  In every photo, you can totally see the sweetness Joseph shows BreAnn and just how comfortable their relationship is.  Take a look at their full gallery here.

Wanna talk about me wanna talk about I wanna talk about...

Thomas and I have been scanning in all of our childhood photos in our efforts to declutter and I thought y'all might get a kick out of some of the stories.  Thanks to my dad for taking most of these!

Exibit A: My 3 year old birthday party.  Yes, I'm crying.  I was embarrassed by this story when I was growing up, but now I just think it's cute.  I actually told my mom I was crying because "they sang too loud."

Exhibit B: Gotta love the early 90's!                                                                   ...and me being a great big sister to Geoff.

Ummm... apparently swimming would make me tired.  Really tired.

I'll give you one guess as to who the really cool one in my family was.....

My love of water sports.

And other sports!  I played soccer for 5 years, then refereed for 3.

Bust mostly, I was a band nerd. Played french horn in middle school, high school and college.

I actually studied Music Education at BYU, not photography!  I was going to be a high school band director.  But life had other plans.  I'm so grateful for the journey, that I am now a wedding photographer.  I have the opportunity to be there on such an important day to help the bride and groom preserve their memories.

And besides...  It's kind of fun.

Kate & Sofia

I shot these two little cousins last fall when we did their extended family portrait session.  This spring shoot was just for them, however.

Their outfits were adorable, but it was definitely a cold spring day and Sofia wasn't especially excited about the process.  I still think her little crying face is really cute though!

Kate was a bit more stoic about the tempurature.

After all was said and done, I loved this little girl!  She was so cute- the perfect picture of a happy, inquisitive toddler.

Sofia had some happier moments as well, usually when Momma was around.

Check out Sophia's photos here and Kate's photos here.

To finish it off, I want to share what might be the greatest expression ever.  When I looked at this photo, I was reminded of how I used to feel when my parents kissed at the dinner table in front of us. Ewwwwwwwwww!

Chelsea&Dan Details: Tuscan Iron Works

Sheri, Chelsea's mom, is a genius when it comes to flowers.  As I mentioned in the last post, Sheri did the flowers for our reception in Austin when Thomas and I got married, and they were fantastic.  However, she outdid herself with Chelsea's wedding.  There were gorgeous flower arrangements EVERYWHERE.  The place smelled fantastic, and no arrangement was exactly the same.  The variety and creativity was awesome.  Here are just a few details from the day...

Chelsea & Dan: LDS Draper Temple Wedding

It's always a pleasure to shoot a fellow Austin-ite's wedding!  Chelsea is from my hometown back in Texas, and I was thrilled to be a part of their wedding day.

I love the look you can get with the pillars around the Draper Temple.... the effect is almost exactly like window-light gives.
Chelsea and Dan had some AMAZING details at their reception, so I think that will be the next post.  Chelsea's mom actually did the flowers for our wedding reception in Texas, and she went above and beyond for the flowers for Chelsea and Dan. They were absolutely unbelievable.  Be sure and check back in a bit to see them!

Pinks & Greens: Formals at Sleepy Ridge

Orchards are awesome.  Especially in the springtime, with little green buds about to burst with blossoms.  Blossoms of Luuuuuve.

Chandra was such a hoot!  She is apparently "everything pink"- pink is DEFINITELY this girl's color.  She is also one of the most naturally expressive girls I have ever shot.  Just look at her- she's so fun and happy and gorgeous.  The shoes she and Roland picked out were also very spring-appropriate.  And after all, if you've been following this blog for a while, you know I am a sucker for nice, vivid colors.

We finished the formals and bridals at the Sleepy Ridge Reception Center in Orem.  The golf course there is beautiful, and has some amazing views.  The wedding reception center itself is also fantastic, and they kindly kept the exterior lit for us so we could get some photos like the one below...

Heidi & Dan: Formals in Saratoga Springs

Heidi and Dan got married yesterday!  We had a wonderful formals shoot about a week ago, and I just had to share some more of the images we got.  We had some different props for this shoot, and even though it was freezing (what is it about late spring in Utah and winter-like temperatures???) we had a great time.

I thought these signs were super cute!

Congratulations Heidi and Dan! Have fun living in Hawaii!!!
