Summer love with Heidi & Steve

This post embodies a lot of what I love about summer.  Bright colors, bare feet, lots of sunshine, watermelon and mountain streams.... this engagement session had it all!  Heidi and Steve were just great, and brought tons of super fun colors in their wardrobe.

We shot up past Sundance near the start of the Alpine Loop, and these were actually taken mid-day. Up the canyon it is often best to start earlier because you can get these wonderful backlit trees and leaves... they are gorgeous!

The amazing...

...Holli and David!  I have never met such a helpful, considerate bride and groom.  Love their style, their willingness to deal with some rain, their playfulness with each.  These two are simply awesome.  And they're tying the knot today!

These are some of my favorites from their formals session in Saratoga Springs a few weeks ago.

So much personality, so much beauty, so much style, I don't know what to say other than amazing!

Hello? Helloooooo?

Sorry we've been MIA this last week everyone!  We bought a home in West Jordan and have been packing and unpacking like crazy people.  One of the joys* of new home ownership is switching over utilities and bribing/threatening/kidnapping the internet people to come hook you up as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it took longer than I would have liked, and doing a blog post from my phone is a little too gnarly for me.

On the plus side, Thomas and I bought a house!  We are incredibly excited about this, and love love love the new neighborhood and our new home.  I have already begun the process of deciding where all the different prints should go (new walls, new decisions! ), and we had an awesome barbeque at our place yesterday with some new friends.

I'll add some photos of the place tomorrow!

Karin & Trevor: Formals at Thanksgiving Point

I love shooting at Thanksgiving Point!  The garden areas are gorgeous, but the reception areas are amazing as well!  The rose garden they have here sets the mood perfectly for Karin and Trevor's formals shoot.

This pink parasol was super cute.  It fit Karin to a tee!

Karin and Trevor were both ballroom dancers at BYU.  I think their first dance is going to be something incredible!

It's the little things that matter

More photos from the reception will follow, but the details at Alexandra and Tyrel's wedding reception were so involved and so beautiful I felt I needed to dedicate a post just for them.  The reception was at Alexandra's house in Las Vegas, and her backyard was perfect for it.

Someone must have climbed up into these trees and spent hours hanging all these little crystals.  The whole effect was breathtaking!

All the perfect touches.

I LOVED the fruit skewer bouquets! I'd never seen something like them before... beautiful, colorful, and delicious!!

With all the lights they has placed around the yard, things just got better as the sun went down!

Alexandra & Tyrel: Las Vegas LDS Temple Wedding

Last month we went down to Las Vegas for Alexandra and Tyrel's wedding in the LDS Temple there.  It was the first time I had shot at that temple, and the building and the grounds were beautiful!  We got a nice, sunny day, with the perfect breeze to help keep us all from melting.

I love both Dads standing there to usher the couple through the doors!  Don't Alexandra and Tyrel look fabulous?

Like I said last year, palm trees automatically make any photo 117% better.  You can look it up!

The architecture of the building is awesome.  Very different from most of the ones I end up shooting.

I'll post the photos from the reception later on today!

Kandis & Greg: Summer Engagements in Salt Lake

More of my couples these days are bringing multiple choices of clothing to engagement shoots, and I couldn't be happier!  When you've got 4 or 5 different shirts in different colors for the bride and groom, as well as a couple of formal outfit choices, it's a snap to get some wonderful combinations between the couple as well as coordinate the type of colors for the setting of the photo.  Kandis and Greg brought an entire trunkful of clothes, and we probably got in 5 or 6 different outfits in the 2 hours or so that we were shooting.

These guys were so wonderful!  They are so genuinely cheerful, nice, and pleasant to be around that Thomas and I immediately began plotting on how we could be friends with them.  Thomas suggested holding their pictures hostage unless they came to dinner... I'm still considering it. :)  They were happy to do anything and everything I needed:  run around like crazy people to the different places we had planned, wade in a FREEZING cold stream, take photos in the middle of state street in downtown SLC, even climb up on the high ledge with no guardrail by the Capitol so that we could get that awesome skyline (at least until the cop came by and told us, yes, we had to climb down).

Three different photos, three different outfits.  And each one looks fabulous!
Kandis definitely knows how to rock the cardigans!  I loved how vibrant the colors were- so summery and happy.

And now we're back to the photo from the sneak peek: I love it I love it I love it!
