Out on the Town
Thomas and I are headed out dancing tonight, and we asked our good friend Scott Jarvie from www.jarviedigital.com to take a quick photo of us before we left. I met Thomas swing dancing, and we still try and go out when we get a chance. Plus, I got a new dress today, so I had to show it off, right?!
Gygi
A few of you have been asking for the recipes from the Chinese New Year cooking class that Thomas and I went to a few months ago at the Gygi cooking school. Thomas loves to cook, and we both loved going to the class and making (and eating!) all the different dishes. So now that we finally got to scanning in the recipes I figured I'd post the photos along with them here!
Orange Chicken
This was Thomas' favorite! The fresh squeezed orange juice and the zest make all the difference in the world.
Fire cracker shrimp
Stir Fry Noodle
Pot Stickers
I love pot stickers, and these were just great!
... and for the grand finale, my favorite from the day!!
Mongolian Beef
Kirra & Brandon: Awesomeness at Saltair
Ok, I can't say enough about how much I loved this engagement shoot!!! Kirra and Brandon were so fantastic to work with- they would intuitively do what I normally coach people to do, they had the most amazing smiles, and they were just plain fun. We shot 100% of the time around Saltair near the Great Salt Lake, but ended up with an awesome variety of locations and looks.
I love that area, but particularly around summertime you have to make sure you slather on the bug spray! I ended up with 14 bites just on my left leg, and gave up counting after that. I also ended up sacrificing a pair of shoes - as you see in the picture below, I crossed over to the other side of the little lake on the beach and the "almost-looked-dry-but-apparently-wasn't" path to my spot ended up eating my footwear. I finished the shoot barefoot, and brought home a souvenir in my shoes that was almost as cool as those little beach in a bottles that you can get in Hawaii. Just a bit smellier.
The amazing thing to me is that Kirra and Brandon were so in love it didn't even phase them. They were happy to go wherever I asked and smile, because they were together.
These guys seriously just laughed and giggled the whole time. I loved it!
If I picked all my favorites from this shoot this post would crash my server, so I put together a slideshow to Kirra and Brandon's song to let y'all see some more.
Diamonds are this girl's best friend
I love being a photographer. I get to meet new people, hear their stories, and find a way to best portray their personalities through the photos. It's a challenge, and it's always something new.
When planning engagement ideas with Danica, she had no doubt in her mind that we'd need some on a baseball diamond. Both she and her fiance are devout followers of this American game. Ryan said "think of the most baseball obsessed guy you've ever met, then think of the biggest Red Sox fan. Combine those two and you've got me."
So on the shoot, I was searching for ways to perfectly show this part of their relationship. And I got it. Literally screamed for joy when I got this photo. Between the sky, the lights, their pose... it was perfect. So I had to share right away! You can look forward to a post with the rest of their photos next week.
Karin & Trevor: Engagements at Riverwoods Mall
Karin and Trevor were such troopers- our engagement session was bright, sunny, and COLD. Very cold. They were awesome to work with though! What a cute couple...
Martina & AJ
Martina and AJ are such an awesome couple. They are super happy and cheerful, and were always ready with big natural smiles. Martina is paralyzed from the waist down, and so we had some fun coming up with different variety of poses and angles while she was sitting. She is so gorgeous, you wouldn't even notice!
We ended up shooting at Temple Square and the Capitol Building in downtown SLC. Talk about your perfect spring day!
Family Shoot at Temple Square
I love spring, especially when all the tulips are out! Here are a few quick favorites from a recent family shoot in downtown SLC at Temple Square.
Looking Dapper in Diapers
Is there anything cuter than toddlers in formalwear? I think not!
