Mike and Lindsey's Formals
I had the privilege of shooting my brother-in-law Michael's wedding. He and Lindsey were married in Portland, but we did some formals in Utah a few weeks before. I'll post pictures from the wedding soon, but here are a few favorites from the session at Daybreak.
This sunset was absolutely unbelievable. No enhancement, no alterations needed.
In the City and on the Beach
Meet Justin. He started an internship with me in January. He's a photography student and is doing quite well establishing his own wedding/portrait photography business as well.
Meet Mallory. She's Justin's wife and partner-in-crime. They are in love.
By the way, Mallory has awesome shoes.
We did an "anniversary" shoot at Park City and at the Great Salt Lake at Saltair.
The lights at Park City at night make for some awesome shots, but the sky at Saltair was unreal.
I call this photo the "Big Dip-her." Hahaha. Hah.
Justin and Mallory don't only shoot with cameras. They are also big airsoft fans. So we got a little "Bonnie and Clyde" action going on here....
Justin and Mallory have two kids. They are hairier than most children.... but Justin loves them anyway.
When they get a chance to relax, Justin and Mallory like to get some quality time together with Call of Duty.
Justin has been such a wonderful help to me this year, and I have loved the chance to teach and help him as he has developed his talents and his business has grown. I'm excited to see what the future holds for them.
Floppy hats, Picnic baskets, and Swedish stuff
Soooooooo... this was clearly not taken in November. I was reviewing the photos from this year, and I realized one of my favorite family shoots ever didn't make it onto the blog. So five months later, here it is.
On a side note- we decided to try something different and shot everything nearby one of my favorite stores ever- IKEA. I love everything in Ikea, but beware... the store is Dangerous. With a capital D. I plan to run in and grab a $5 thingamajigger, and, of course, I walk out with a pallet cart having spent $300. I walk inside for a 10 minute errand, and before I realize it 3 hours have passed. It's the Bermuda Triangle of retail.
I've been lucky enough to shoot Zoey several times now, and I think I can literally say that I have never come across a more naturally photogenic baby. She is A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E. I hope one day to have a baby girl with eyes half as gorgeous as Zoey's.
Jordan and Mike- Bringing the Funk
I loved this reception for two reasons-
- candy bar- enough said.
- 90% of it was dancing. Par-TAY.
At the end, Thomas and I were even able to put down our cameras and boogie down for one song! Receptions with lots of dancing always seem to be more of a celebration and more of a party to me.... and Jordan and Mike definitely went all out getting down with their bad selves!
Baby Sofia
Every once in a while for one child I will do a "mini-session". There are advantages and disadvantages in the shorter time frame, but it's amazing how much variety you can get in expressions and moods from a kid in 30 minutes. Fortunately, Sofia tended towards the happy-playful-curious variety instead of the unhappy-crying-tantrum side, so she was a dream to shoot.
Marie 'n Mike- Formals from Park City
Manti Strikes Again
Any time I have an LDS temple wedding, I always try to show up at or right before the sealing time is scheduled to start. I take some photos of the temple itself (so that the bride and groom can see how it looked the exact moment they were getting married), and usually there are lots of family members hanging around outside waiting for the wedding party to exit.
I liked a lot of the candids we got this time, but am ABSOLUTELY in love with this first one above. Whenever I end up having a little boy of my own, he will definitely be dressed in suspenders and a bowtie. Every day. He can sleep in them. SO... DARN... CUTE!
I love wedding photography. I love happy people. I love real moments. And I love being there to capture them. As the bride and groom walk out of the temple and kiss for the first time publicly as husband and wife, I love seeing the look in their eyes and the expressions of their parents and family. This is why I do what I do.
I think my brain melted a little from the cuteness of this next one... little kids when they are all dressed up are also some of the best parts of a wedding day.
